How to Maximize Your Twitter Presence

For those of us that have been using twitter, I have found some tools that can help to broaden your reach with it and save you some time in the process. There are a few free tools that can help you to grow your twitter base fairly quickly without spending a lot of time doing it. The tools that you use are:
Tweet Later
Twitter Packs
Twitter Karma
With these tools you are able to automate the follow and unfollow process, and the growth your list.

Tweet Later allows you to automate the replies to your follows as well as scheduling your tweets and automatically follow those that follow you. Once you sign up and confirm your registration to the service, you should follow the instructions carefully to fully automate the following and replying process. The most important part of completing the process is to complete the creation of an email filter to forward your follow notification emails to tweetlater so that they can automatically follow the people who follow you. Those instructions are found at the bottom of the “Automate” page on Tweet Later. Another important factor in configuring your account is to set up your reply message to be really inviting and not try to sell or send someone to your site immediately. Also make sure to include your username in your reply message. For example: Welcome. Looking forward to knowing you. Reply @yourusername with your favorite food. Mine’s BBQ Chicken. Remember to keep it short and sweet – 120 characters.

By using Twitter Packs, you will be able to search for groups of people who share the same interests as you do as well as one click following the whole group. Visit the Twitter Pack site, enter your twitter username and password, then scroll down to choose a group to follow. Click the box to select all the members of the group and scroll back to the top of the page and click Follow. You will then see a message telling you all the people in the group whom you are now following.

Twitter Karma gives you the ability to see who is following you vs who you are following, allowing you to unfollow those who have not followed you after a reasonable amount of time ( about 2 weeks). There may be a few big names you may want to continue to follow even if they’re not following you – but that is up to you.

So to Summarize, here is the plan to put your twitter list on steroids:
1) Sign up with and configure your Tweet Later account
2) Visit Twitter Packs and look for a few groups to follow
3) Use Twitter Karma to unfollow those people who have not returned the favor and move on to some other willing participants.
